Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Gentle touch. Compassionate care. Time for you.

Sometimes our bodies need a little extra care, a moment to slow down, and the space to simply be.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialised massage technique using slow, rhythmic movements to encourage the natural flow of lymph fluid through the body. The lymphatic system plays an important role in maintaining fluid balance and supporting our immune function.

Unlike traditional massage, MLD uses very light, soothing touch. It offers a gentle approach to supporting the body while providing a peaceful opportunity to rest and unwind.

At Quiet Space Practice, I offer individualised treatments in a calm, private setting in Sompting, West Sussex. My approach is centred on compassion, comfort and understanding, recognising that everybody's needs and experiences are different.

The benefits of Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Supporting lymphatic flow and fluid balance

MLD can encourage the movement of excess fluid within the tissues. It is used in the management of lymphoedema and may help reduce swelling, heaviness and associated discomfort when appropriate.

Gentle relaxation and wellbeing

The slow, rhythmic nature of MLD can provide a soothing experience, allowing you time away from the demands of everyday life. It offers an opportunity to pause, relax and receive some much-needed care and attention.

Support during and after cancer treatment

Cancer and some cancer treatments can affect the lymphatic system, sometimes resulting in lymphoedema. For suitable individuals, MLD may form part of a wider approach to managing swelling and supporting comfort.

With an additional diploma in oncology support, I have undertaken further training to develop my understanding of the needs and experiences of people affected by cancer.

I recognise that a cancer diagnosis and its treatment can bring physical and emotional challenges. My approach is sensitive, compassionate and respectful of each person's individual circumstances, providing a space where you can feel listened to and cared for.

Where appropriate, Manual Lymphatic Drainage may be incorporated into an individual's care plan, taking account of their medical history, current treatment and advice from their healthcare team.

Helping you feel more comfortable in your body

Where swelling and fluid accumulation are present, MLD may help ease feelings of tightness, heaviness and discomfort. Treatment is adapted to your individual needs, with the aim of supporting comfort and wellbeing.

Time to rest and reconnect

Sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves is permission to stop.

A treatment at Quiet Space Practice offers a peaceful opportunity to step away from everyday pressures and focus on yourself. Through gentle touch and attentive care, you are invited to take a breath, settle into stillness and enjoy time that is entirely your own.

Specialist care, with compassion at its heart

I believe that caring for someone means seeing the whole person, not simply their symptoms.

My approach combines gentle, individualised treatment with an understanding that everyone's journey is different. Whether you are seeking support with swelling, looking for a gentle treatment during a challenging time, or simply wanting a peaceful space to rest, your comfort and wellbeing remain at the centre of your experience.

Your treatment begins with a conversation about your needs, health and expectations, allowing us to consider whether Manual Lymphatic Drainage is appropriate for you.

If you are living with or recovering from cancer, I will approach your treatment with particular sensitivity and consideration, taking into account your circumstances and any relevant guidance from your healthcare team.

A quiet space to breathe, restore and receive care.

You deserve to feel supported, understood and cared for.

Quiet Space Practice — gentle treatments, compassionate support, and time for you.
